Avalon asked, "And what...pray-tell does he have that you want to obtain so badly?  It must be something extremely important and powerful for you to have taken the long voyage down here."

An elf guard shouted, "The creature is escaping, after it!"  The guards started to raise the alarm.

Avalon stood and said, "Lady, remain here, I shall return, do not leave the throne room."  He swept out and wished he knew where his three children were located.

Eärwen said, "Adeon, they need your help, go and help Avalon, I have a bad feeling about this."

Daerwen looked up when the alarm bells rang, stopped fashioning her arrow before she rushed back to the palace. Midway there, she saw her father along with four elven guards heading down to the dungeons.
Avalon stopped in his tracks when he saw his guards, son and Taliya unconscious. Avalon made his way toward Kunadan and slowly turned him to his side. Kunadan slowly stirred,
"Father…?" He winced. Avalon turned to his guard and then ordered, "Get him to the infirmary."
Daerwen stopped just directly behind the guards and saw the guard helping her brother up before she turned to her father and saw him lifting her aunt from the ground before he handed her to one of the guards and said,
"Close all the gates, search the palace, I want the creature found!"

Harald's eyes widen after she told him the purpose for the kiss and walked away to begin digging before he heard the sounds of the alarm bells.
"Something's wrong…" He whispered. Nimue dropped her axe and rushed over back toward the palace.

Déagol was going through all the rooms, screaming, "Precious?! Precious?! Precious!" Finally he made to the library and begin ransacking the library, "Where is it?! Where is it!?" He screamed throwing down the shelves, tossing the tables, books and papers away, unaware that he knocked the chest down till he heard it thump . Déagol turned and he could sense the ring inside it.
"Precious…" He whispered before he walked over and grabbed the chest, trying to open it. He struggled, digging his nails on the thin slot and trying to force it open. He let screams of frustration as he continued trying to force it open. Suddenly he heard more people coming and he looked for a place to hide, but found none. Moonlight shone and he covered his eyes with his hand and that's when he saw the window. Déagol heard the sound of the guards coming closer, and finally they entered the library.
By then Déagol was sitting on the window ledge, he let out an animalistic growl before he jumped out.

"Father! What's happened?!" Nimue screamed as she and Harald ran down the hall, seeing the King giving orders to the guards. Avalon turned to them both and said, "Return to your chambers, a prisoner has escaped. I want every guard stationed at every exit! No one is to leave!"

Déagol managed to find his way out of the elven kingdom and into the hills that surrounded the Mirage Forest. Finally he looked at the chest and started jumping in joy,
    "Precious it's our! It's ours!"
The jeweled chest's gems shined in the moonlight, attracting the attention of an eagle who swooped in and took the chest from Déagol's hands.
Déagol stopped and looked at his hands in disbelief and looked up to see the eagle,
"No! My Precious! It's ours! Stupid birdes! It's ours!" Déagol picked up a stone and tried throwing it at the animal, but at last the bird was too high to be hit.
Déagol took several steps forwards before he let out a scream of rage as he then chased the great animal.

Nimue closed her eyes and began to sense. She spoke out, "The darkness has left the area...if he was here, he is gone now."

Lady Arya heard her speak these words and watched her from the throne room door. She thought, "Interesting, she might have the sight...I must keep an eye on that one..." She slunk back into the throne room which was darkened at the moment.

Taliya groaned as she slowly sat up in the cell and realized she was locked in. She chucklled softly to herself and thought, "Serves me right...Avalon and Kunadan were right...I am too soft...hearted...." Her vision swam before her eyes then she collapsed again from her injuries the creature had inflicted on her.

Adeon was searching the dungeon for any clues as to what had happened, he reached the cell where Deagol had been held, but due to the darkness he didn't see anything, only a closed cell. He moved swiftly on, not realizing that Taliya was within ten feet of him unconscious.

Avalon looked on and saw that the light had disappeared from the world above.
"The darkness that will strike the dawn." He replied as he turned to the floor with a slight dread. Nimue and Harald walked over toward him.
    "Uncle?" Harald called.
"I asked you both to return to your chambers."
    "But father--"
"Go!" Avalon told them. Nimue backed away slightly, never seeing her father like this. Harald put his hand on his cousin's shoulder and pulled her away. Avalon walked back into his throne room and then turned to The Lady of Arda and asked,
"What do you know of this my lady?"
"He is awakening. Soon darkness will cover the land." She replied. Avalon then turned and said,
"Is there away to stop this?"
"You will have to wait till he's gained his true power, and that power lies with the ring that I have come to seek."
"Yes...I've heard stories of that ring."
"He will not regain his full power without it. Which is why I came here. I sensed its presence within your walls, but now that presence is gone."
"Could that creature have something to do with this?"

Harald, having just escorted Nimue to her chambers, returned to the library all to find the chaos within, and then he saw that his chest was missing. The chest that held the ring. A sudden instinct overcame him and he couldn't control himself. Harald immediately got down and frantically started searching for it, tearing through the pages of the ancient books down to the actual bookshelves. He could see the wood splintering his hands, but he didn't care.
"Where is it?! Where is it?!"

Daerwen had just walked passed the library when she heard the ruckus. She turned and saw her cousin searching through the broken bookshelves and then she saw blood on the pages and floor. "Harald!" She rushed over and tried to get him up, but he pushed her off him and Daerwen skidded across the floor through the paper's sharp edges. "It's mine!" Harald spoke. She winced and she at her hand only to see the paper cut on her arm, and that it was bleeding.
"You cut me?" She spoke as she looked up at her cousin. Harald saw the blood that dripped down her arm. He snapped out of whatever force that overtook him, and he looked at the ripped pages on his injured hands. Thousands of years worth of history, destroyed. Harald threw the damaged book pages away and looked at the wreckage.

Adeon then tripped and then heard a groan. "Taliya?"
Taliya slowly opened her eyes and she could barely see Adeon standing there, "Who are you?" She asked.

Dedalen walked into the library and saw his son bleeding and also Daerwen's arm. He walked up and asked, "What is the meaning of this? There are so many ripped papers, Daerwen is hurt, and you are as well, son speak to me, what is going on?"

Nimue paced back and forth in her room, she sensed something was wrong with Harald, she could feel it deep in her heart. She bit her lip then she tore out of the room and raced towards Harald at full speed. A dove flew in the window and started to fly beside her as she opened the library and ran up to Harald and threw her arms around him and hugged him, "No more...no more pain...what is going on? I sensed something dark around you, it is gone now..."

Adeon said, "It is I, Adeon, what happened to you?"

Taliya groaned and said, "I kinda got caught off guard by the creature and he threw me in here." She rubbed the back of her head and said, "I feel...all dazed and confused..." She slowly got to her feet and then slid down on the ground once more. She couldn't stand at the moment, Deagol had hit her way too hard.

"He didn't throw you in there."
Adeon turned and saw Avalon standing there. Taliya looked up at him and saw him looking down at her.
"My guards were the ones who put you in here."
    "What?" Adeon asked, "What for?"
"She helped a prisoner escape. Even after I warned her he was not to be trusted. You went against my warning and you went behind my back. Not only did you put my guards at risk, but your my son--your own nephew in danger for the sake of helping the poor creature."
Taliya looked down at the foot of the bed for a moment.
"You're lucky, if it were not for my children, I would have asked for your head."

Nimue had left the library and was overhearing the conversation.  She walked up to them and said, "That is enough father.  If she is remaining in there, then so am I!"  She took the key from Avalon, unlocked the door, opened it and slammed the cell then locked the door again and tossed the key at her father and said sternly, "She did what she thought was right, and I support her for trying to help a creature that should be pitied.  Granted it backfired, but whatever punishment she has, I will share with her."

Taliya hugged her and said, "I know I had an error in judgment, but I hate seeing creatures in pain and we were causing him immeasurable pain by tying him up in elven rope."

Nimue looked up at her father with a stern look on her face; and he could see her mother in her. Avalon then turned to them both.
"I won't put your aunt in a cell, but she is under home arrest."
    "Father--"
"No Nimue. I committed a crime, I have to pay for it."
    "Then I will to--"
"You will do no such thing. This is my crime not yours." She replied when she put her hand on her niece's cheek, "I have no hard feelings."

Nimue stared at her and said, "You did what you thought was right and if my father wants to punish you for that, then he should punish me as well because I probably would have done the same thing had I not been cheering up...a friend in need." She stared at her father and said directly, "Mother would have tried to find some way to help him, maybe not let him out, but at least try to help him."

    "Enough Nimue."
The two looked up and saw Kunadan walking forward with a bandage wrapped around his head. Avalon turned.
"She disobeyed both father's and my warnings."
"What happened to you?" Nimue asked. Kunadan turned his head toward their aunt and said, "Ask her."

The healers wrapped Harald's hands in bandages, after all the splinters had been taken out. Dedalen stood out and waited till they were done. A few minutes later, the final wrap was spun and Harald thanked the two healers. Dedalen moved to let them pass before he walked over and talked to his son.
    "What happened?"
"I don't know father." Harald replied. "Nimue mentioned a darkness."
    "I...It felt like it."
    "What was it?"
"A ring. I thought I'd lost it, and something took over, it was telling me to find it and I couldn't stop."

Dedalen said, "That sounds like a very dangerous item, you must never touch that ring again. I shall consult with Avalon about this, and see if we can find out more. I want you to go find Nimue and Daerwen. You have to apologize to her, apparently you hurt her while you were in a state." He looked at his son and said, "I appreciate your honesty."

Nimue looked at her and saw she was hanging her head in shame. She said, "Aunt...I am very disappointed with you. It is one thing to attempt to help others, but when my father and my brother both warned you about him. Father, I will handle her personally." She crossed her arms as Taliya winced in fear.

Nimue watched her for a moment then said, "Father no, she is not under house arrest...she is staying in this cell for a week or two. Perhaps that shall teach her about obeying her superiors." She stepped out of the cell after Adeon unlocked it. She closed the cell and locked it. She turned and said, "No visitors..." She left the dungeon.

Adeon sighed and asked, "What were you thinking Taliya? There are two guards injured, and you hurt Kunadan."

Taliya shook her head and said, "I was trying to help someone in trouble, and it hurt others rather than help him."

Adeon held his forehead and then walked away.

"Vanya would never have approved of this." Avalon told her. Taliya looked up at him and then said,
    "You don't know that."
"I do. I've knew Vanya for over fifty years. She would never put her personal feelings above the safety of her children."
Kunadan turned to his father as he continued on.
"I think a week is far to lenient for what you've done to your own sister's child, however Nimue is fond of you. I'll let her serve the sentence."
Avalon turned and left the dungeon.

"Father, before I apologize, do you know anything about the ring?" Harald asked.

Dedalen said, "I have only heard rumors...about a ring that has the power to turn good people evil. That may have been what...oh goodness...son I have to leave for a short while, we require some research on this. There is also that creature out there, and he was so corrupted by the ring that he went to a path of pure destruction. Be thankful that it is now missing from your ownership or it would have caused more destruction to your mind. Now go to them and apologize, especially Daerwen." He left and went to Avalon's throne room and waited for him to return.

Nimue paced her room, she was furious with her aunt. She thought, "And here I defended her as well. What was she thinking? Even I never caused this much trouble, not even when I disobeyed my father to help Dedalen's country."

A knock came at the door.
"I wish to be alone!" She replied, but the person on the other end opened the door.
    "I said I wish to be a--"
Standing in front of her was the Lady of Arda. Nimue's eyes widen in disbelief as she immediately curtsied,
    "My apologizes my lady."
"All is forgiven child." The Lady of Arda replied. "To what do I do the honor?"
"There is great war that soon play, and I wish to invite to come with me to my homeland, there you will learn to reach your true potential, for you have a light in you, and that will help this impending battle. So I ask you now child, will you be willing to come with me?"

"Daerwen." Harald knocked on her door.
"Enter." She replied on the other end. Harald opened the door and walked in,
"Cousin Daerwen, I came here to a apologize."
"Apology accepted. I know you didn't mean to do it." Daerwen replied as she stood up with a bandage on her arm.
    "But your--"
"Just scratch. It'll heal on its own."
"Still, I feel the need to apologize. Families shouldn't be hurting one another."
Daerwen nodded in agreement and then said, "Have been to see Kunadan yet?"
    "No? Why, what's happened?"
    "You haven't heard?"
    "Heard what?"
"The creature is gone. Taliya helped him escape, and injured my brother in the process."
    "The Ring...he has it!"
    "Ring? What ring?"

Avalon entered his throne room and was surprised to see Dedalen there, with a serious look on his face.
"What urgency troubles you?" Avalon asked.

Nimue gasped and said, "My lady...I do not know how to answer...I mean..." She felt like the words had been syphoned out of her. She asked, "How long...would I be gone? There is...someone I love here, and I do not wish to lose him."

Dedalen said, "What caused that situation with the creature, Taliya, Kunadan and my son as well...was a ring. Daerdwen found him frantically tearing apart the library, searching for it. Rumors have been told about a ring created that could turn beings evil, after seeing that creature and my own son reacting that way when the ring was gone confirms it to me. The Ring of Power was found and lost again this very night. It must not fall into the wrong hands, for if it does, the consequences could be terrible. What do you know of it?"

"That rumor you speak of is no ordinary rumor. There lies such a ring, and your son has been tempted but not yet fully corrupted."
    "Fully?"
"He is half human. That makes him susceptible to the ring's power, even more so than we elves. He has sensed the ring's power. Only he alone can track it down."
"Track it down?" Dedalen turned to him and said,
"He will have to go, find the ring or at least find the creature and kill it."
"Kill? Harald has a gentle heart, he has not the strength to do this--"
"He will have to." Avalon replied.

"You have nothing to fear child. The one closest to your heart will be safe. I promise you that." The Lady of Arda told her.

Nimue suddenly shook and held her head. She froze suddenly and a vision came to her. She saw Harald standing over Deagol's body, covered in blood.

    In the vision...

Harald heaved, his hand shaking with the sword in his hand coated in blood. Deagol's head was rolled away from the body, the body lifeless at his feet. Harald slowly knelt and took the ring from the creature's finger. He laughed crazily, "It's mine...at last...it's my precious...mine!" He put the ring on and vanished from sight. Bloodied footprints led away from the battleground.

Nimue watched as the bloodied footprints slowly started getting less visible until at last the blood was no longer being left behind. Her vision began to blacken.

She came out of her reverie with a start. She fell to her knees and said, "I...I cannot go with you my lady, I apologize. I must see Dedalen immediately!" She ran from the room and heard Avalon say "He will have to go, find the ring or at least find the creature and kill it."

Dedalen's voice came from the room, "Kill? Harald has a gentle heart, he has not the strength to do this--"

    "He will have to."

Nimue slammed the door open and walked forward, her eyes were glowing still from the vision she had received and said, "He cannot go...I shall not allow it father."

Avalon stared at her and said, "You speak to me with such disrespect!"

Nimue said, "Be still...this is more important than rank. I received a vision a moment ago, what triggered it, I do not know. I saw Harald standing over Deagol...covered in blood. He took a ring from the creature and vanished as he called it his. He called it his precious."

Dedalen looked up at Avalon and said, "He cannot do this Avalon. I won't allow it."
"Then what would you propose to do about this?"
    "Father, I will have to."
    "Nimue I cannot allow--"
"She has been blessed with a gift." The Lady Arda replied as she walked into the throne room. Avalon turned to The Lady of Arda, "A gift?"
"You should know Avalon. Your mother was one of our people and she was blessed with the gifts as your sister and your daughter are."

She knelt, "Lady Arda...my apologies for running out so swiftly." She slowly stood and said, "I shall begin the hunt at once...that creature hasn't escaped my vigil yet." She was about to leave when Dedalen took her hand and said, "Not alone you do not. I will not allow you to risk your life in such a fashion just to save my son."

Nimue said, "Very well...I shall bring Harald and Taliya with me. Harald has felt the curse of the ring...he will be able to help me track the creature down...then we shall take the ring back from the creature. Once we have it, we can find out what to do with it!" She left the throne room.

Dedalen asked, "Is this really wise my lord? She may be your daughter, but she isn't ready for such a task is she?"

Lady Arda answered, "She is ready...I have sensed it. I too shall be accompanying her on this journey. It is my responsibility to make sure the one blessed with such a gift is safe."

Dedalen said, "I shall prepare for the journey as well. If my son is going, then I wish to accompany him. I will not touch that ring though, it is too dangerous for a human to bear. It would corrupt my mind very fast." He bowed to Lord Avalon and Lady Arda then left as well.

Lady Arda looked at Avalon and said, "It appears you have something you wish to say to me Avalon...I request you speak frankly and accurately, for we do not have time to waste in banter."

    Meanwhile...

Nimue went to the cell and unlocked it. She said, "Taliya, you are to come with me...your chance at redemption is here, gather your sword and prepare...we are going to track down Deagol and stop him. Harald must be watched as well, he felt the ring's influence, the same one Deagol stole from the library and the same one that is pure evil. It must be reclaimed at all cost. As you were the one who released Deagol from this cell, it is your duty to assist me in this endeavor."

"Yes, I do have a request. My son Kunadan. Allow him to accompany you on this journey as well." Avalon replied.
"That is not request that I can grant. For you should ask him yourself, Lord Avalon. However, if you wish for me to heal him, that I can oblige."
Avalon bowed his head and said, "Thank you My Lady."
"Of course, we will need nine in our fellowship. Is there someone you can promise to come with us?"
    "I cannot think of anyone."
"Father, pardon the intrusion. But I will go." Kunadan said as he entered the throne room.
    "So will I." Daerwen spoke.
Kunadan, Avalon and The Lady of Arda turned to see Daerwen standing there, dressed in her hunting clothes with her bow and arrows strapped on her back.
"Daerwen, you're but a child." Avalon added.
"That is true, but I belong with my brother and my sister. Surely you of all people can understand that father."
"She is strong and she will grow stronger still. Avalon, this may be a good opportunity for her." The Lady Arda replied.
Avalon closed his eyes and took a deep breath before he reluctantly agreed.

Dedalen smiled then said, "Alright, get ready everyone...we leave swiftly.  The sooner we leave, the better chance we have of catching the creature Deagol."  He left the throne room to get his sword ready.

Nimue entered the entrance hall and waited for the other six members to show up.

The six showed up relatively soon and the seven of them were waiting.

Adeon said, "Wait is seven going to be enough?"

"It will be for now." The Lady of Arda replied as she stepped forward and stood beside Nimue.
One by one the rest started to appear in this order, Harald, Kunadan, Daerwen, Taliya and finally Dedalen.
Avalon then walked over toward the gate where the seven stood and then he turned to his three children and said,
"Kunadan, you are the oldest I expect you to protect your sisters. Nimue, you are the second I pray that you will learn to listen to advice and do as your told instead of listening to your strong will, and Daerwen, you are my youngest, I expect nothing more than your survival. That goes for all of you. Look after one another."
Kunadan, Nimue and Daerwen all gave their father a gesture of respect and said,
"We will not let you down father."
    Avalon slowly nodded his head.

Adeon walked over to his younger brother before he clasped his hands on Harald's shoulders,
"Stay safe." He told him. Harald looked up at his older brother before he gave Adeon a brotherly hug and said,
    "I'll come back and that's a promise."

Lynessa walked over to her father and curtsied before she said, "I will pray for your safe journey father."
Dedalen nodded as he cupped his daughter's chin and said, "Thank you for your blessings Lynessa."

Kunadan helped The Lady of Arda up on their horse before he turned and helped Nimure up hers.

Soon the three watched as the fellowship of seven turned and left the Elven Realm. Nimue turned and looked over her shoulder. She saw that Adeon and Lynessa had returned back to the palace, but her father remained by the gate watching as they went further and further away from the area.

The gates slowly closed, and Avalon took a deep breath before he turned back and went to his throne room.

Daerwen walked on foot beside her brother and looked over as Harald walked beside his father as Dedalen rode on horseback. She then turned and saw that Taliya was walking to the right of Nimue while Kunadan stood to her left.

"Where do we journey to first?" She asked The Lady of Arda.

The Lady of Arda said, "We follow Harald at this moment in time. He is the only one amongst us who has felt the ring's curse...he must lead us."

Nimue's eyes widened as she saw a man they had not seen in over eleven years.

Gandalf the wizard had returned to the Elven Territory. He stopped his horse in front of the company of seven and said, "I see you have your own little fellowship going my friends, Nimue you have grown beautiful in my absence."

Nimue beamed then said, "Thank you Gandalf, it has been far too long since your last visit. We seek a particular creature who has something of great danger on his person."

Gandalf said, "You speak of the Ring and of the creature Deagol. I ran into him a few hours ago, or rather I saw him enter a certain place...the Mines of Tauric. Be warned, those who enter that mine, never come out alive. I must ride south for the Ivalice Kingdom, for there is grave evil afoot, not only in the east, but a second power has risen in the west. The witch has made her stronghold further west past the Shire Kingdom. With Adeon's absence, it has...fallen into ruin."

Nimue gasped and asked, "Are you certain Gandalf?"

Gandalf nodded and answered, "On my last visit there, one year hence, the great Shire Kingdom had fallen to ruin...I do not mean destroyed though. The kingdom is still there, but it has fallen into darkness. The people who live there follow a woman who has named herself Queen of the Shire and she had a new husband who disappeared three years ago after being given a Pendant of Power, one of the nine for mortal men. I fear he fell to darkness and without its king, she is powerless to stop the raids from the Orcs."

Nimue said, "Gandalf, I need you to go to the Dwarven City of Ruk'lok first. Kulain is presiding there, he must go and assist the human kingdom and help it rebuild immediately. It cannot fall or the dark forces from the west will attack the Elven Kingdom. If they succeed in taking the Elven Kingdom, the only bastion left would be the Ivalice Kingdom and the Dwarven Kingdom. Hurry, I implore you."

Gandalf said, "You aim to enter the mines correct?"

She nodded and said, "That is our path, this is yours Gandalf."

Gandalf handed her a staff and said, "This will aid you in your quest."

Nimue took hold of the staff and it glowed. Her clothes glowed then changed to brown robes instead of their original green.

Gandalf said, "I have sensed you having powers beyond that of normal elves Nimue...your natural gift is the power of Nature magic. As you grow stronger in this field, you can even reach White given enough time and training. Good luck friends...stay alive and with all luck, you will be able to save this world." He rushed off on his horse.

Nimue said, "Harald...you are the chosen one and the guide to our path, do you sense the ring where he said? The Mines of Tauric that is."

Harald paused for a moment and then he tried to remember where the mines were. He had seen it in a map from one of the books, a few minutes later his eyes widen and then he said,
"He's right, that's where it is."
"Then that's where we'll go." Nimue replied as she took the lead. Kunadan then walked beside his sister and reminded her,
"Nimue, Harald is the one who is suppose to lead."

Nimue nodded and said, "My apologies, Harald...lead on."

The group went forward and after a day's travel, they found themselves at the entrance to the mine. Before them were jagged rocks and chasms that split the very earth from near them. Nimue called to the others, "Be cautious, the ground is very uneven. It is like it wishes to swallow us whole." She tapped the staff on the ground and a light lit up at the tip.

Taliya said, "Someone or something is following us...strange...I feel as though there are two of them."

Harald stepped forward ahead of the group and said, "We enter the mine, for our quarry lies within."

The group made their way past the crags and splits in the earth before them until they found the entrance, only to find it sealed by door. The moonlight illuminated the door and runes appeared. They stopped at the entrance while Nimue and Arda stepped forward to try and solve the puzzle before them.

Dedalen heard a rock move along the ground and he instantly spun, his sword drawn. He shouted, "Who goes there?"
