    The Halfblood

Post by SAga4000 on Tue Oct 13, 2015 2:23 am

Many eons ago, before the age of technology, knowledge and religion. Man lived among all beings; from the tiniest insect to the mightiest mammal, and those not born from any man nor animal, but from the earth itself. These beings had no names till centuries later, when man discovered evil and sought these nameless beings to sunder their powers. Forced with no other option, the beings used their powers to keep themselves hidden by creating a new world within the earth; and new laws were made to keep the line between humans and hidden creatures separate; but the creatures knew that there would be a time when their lines would intermingle again, and then came the words of a prophecy of a child born in fruition of the two worlds. Forcing the bonds between good and evil, man and beast, and man and elf; and the child was given a name.
    The Halfblood.

A beautiful young female child was born under the salt of the earth.  She came into the world in the elven way, calm and without pain.  The mother sighed in relief and held the baby then she slowly glided out of the room.  As she had given birth the natural way, she was able to move a lot easier than a rushed birth.  She handed the baby to the nurse elves and said, "I must lay down, I require rest, please care for her and tell my husband about her birth.  Tomorrow we all celebrate the birth of the new princess...please tell her brother about it as well."

The nurse elf bowed and said, "Of course my queen..."  She carried little princess out of the room and the two nurse elves gushed over her.  One said, "She is so pretty already, she will probably be so beautiful!"

They took the baby to the father and said, "Mi'lord, your daughter has been born and your wife is resting."

The Elf King slowly rose from his throne and carefully walked over toward the nurses, who immediately knelt down at his presence. The nurse holding the baby was kneeling in front of the other two, holding the baby up for him to take, while trying not to look him in the eye.
The King lifted the baby from the nurse's hands and told them, "Tell the Queen she did well, and that I'll hold on to the child for the hour."
"Yes, My King." The nurses replied before they slowly stood, bowed and left the baby with the King.
The King then carried her while he headed back to his throne, then he turned to his guard and said, "Summon the Prince and his nursemaid, it is time they meet the new princess."

The princess opened her eyes which were stunning shade of blue with a very hint of green in them. She reached out and took her father's finger in her hand and stared up at him.

A nurse elf brought in the four year old prince. He walked up to his father and bowed for a moment before he looked at the little girl in his arms. He blinked and said, "What...is that daddy?"

A nurse stared at him in shock for a moment before she knelt and whispered in his ear.

His eyes went wide, "A sister? You told me I was getting a brother, why is the baby a girl?"

"My Prince, call him my King. Remember your court etiquette." His Nursemaid whispered to him.
"Because the world willed it so, and regardless of what happens. You sister is a part of our kinship and you must treat her so. Do you understand?"
"Yes dadd--My King." The Young Prince replied. The Elf King nodded once to his son and then turned to the nursemaid.
"Has he made any improvements in his studies?"
    "Not yet my King."
"So I see, take the Prince to the grounds and--"
"A Princess has been born and I was the last one to find out."
The Elf King turned to his right and saw his sister walking just below the throne area with her ladies in waiting behind her. She turned to her brother and curtsied gracefully with her ladies in waiting bowing right behind her.
"Yuré, my dear sister, I was about to summon you." The King nodded signaling her that she could raise her head and approach.
Yuré raised her head and walked up the steps to the throne, where the King gently placed the baby in her arms. Yuré smiled at her niece and said,
"She will be beautiful. I will say a prayer for her when I leave to the woods above ground."
"Yuré, you very well how I feel about that."
"I'm aware, and I know how to stay hidden. I promise you My Great King and brother, no man will see me. I give you my word."

The baby looked up at Yure and giggled happily. She reached up and tried to grab onto Yure's lavender hair. She was fascinated by her hair.

THe prince stared at her and said, "I already don't like her my lord.  Excuse me I have to return to my studies."  He left with his tutor.

Yuré laughed once her nephew was gone and said, "He's just like you were at that age."
"So I've been told." The Elf King replied for a moment. Yuré turned to her little before she carefully handed the newborn princess back to her brother.
"Another step away from the line--"
"I've no interest in ruling. I wasn't made to be a Queen, nor do I have the patience for it." Yuré replied.
"Perhaps, you will, one day you become a wife."
"Perhaps if I ever choose to be wife." Yuré retorted. "You certainly won't gain much attention with your sharp tongue."
    "A tongue is a woman's only weapon."

A nurse elf said, "What shall I do about the celebratory party my lord?"

The prince huffed and tossed a rock in the study area and thought, "It's not fair, I wanted a brother not some bratty little girl. Just what I need, her wearing pink and wanting to be all pretty and not being fun at all."

"That will be held in three days time. As for the Kingdom, celebrations shall begin a week after." The King ordered, "Take the Princess to a wetnurse."
"Yes my King." The Nurse replied before she gently took the baby away from him. Once they were alone. The King turned to his sister and said,
"I shall pray for your sister in your risky endeavors."
"Thank you brother." She replied enthusiastically before she knelt down and kissed her brother's ring. She stood up curtsied and then took her leave.

    An hour later,
she walked up toward the gate that would take her to the outside world and carefully walked up the stairs with her basket. Unaware that this day would be different than the others.

A young human was traveling through the forest. He was with an entire hunting party. He raised his sword and said, "Hold men...I hear something approaching. Get into the bushes and remaineth there until I calleth for ye."

The men went into the bushes and the young king held his bow tightly then he saw the flutter of movement and fired an arrow, pinning something to a tree. He swiftly approached with his sword drawn and reflected the moonlight off its blade onto the creature. It was female in appearance and was pinned to the tree from the arrow and the cloak that was being pinned. She was unharmed. He sighed and sheathed his blade and said, "Tis not safe for a young lady to quarry so late in the forest...what brings ye...out here?" He froze for a moment then used his word to lower her hood and gasped then whispered, "An elf? I thought they no longer existed."

One of the men called out, "Sire? What have ye found?"

He quickly covered up the hood and pulled the arrow from her cloak and said, "Go now milady, It is not in my blood to harm someone so fair as ye." He gently took her hand for a split second before he whispered, "Go on about your business, don't worry about my men."

One of the men came running up and said, "Oh wow...tis truly an elf? She is so beautfiul!"

He groaned and said, "Still thy tongue knave, I do not wish the others to know of her. Remember, elves hide for a reason, I wouldn't want her to be in trouble with her kin."

The man looked at his king then said, "Well she's definitely a beautiful one Sire. That lavender hair is wonderous. Her eyes...they are such a emerald color and..."

The King said, "Yes she is quite beautiful, any man would have his eyes examined for not liking her visage upon immediate sight. That stated, I want her to be able to return to her kin without incident, so speak not a word of this to the others. All I found was a rabbit that got away, understand?"

The Man said, "But sire, you've never missed a shot, they won't believe that."

The king rubbed his forehead and said, "I must apologize miss, but he is correct, they will never believe I missed my quarry."

The man said, "If we at least introduce her...miss what is your name? This is King Dedalen of the Shire."

The King said, "I rule a small kingdom with my men as the main hunting party. We use every inch of anything we hunt, it is my one law of hunting. If we cannot use everything of something, it is not harmed."

Yuré remained silent as she kept her cloak fastened around her head, to hide her ears. Dedalen glanced at her and waited for an answer, but she kept her eyes down as she held her tongue. A few minutes passed and Dedalen's men said,
    "She's mute. Sire."
"Come milady, show us the way to your home."
Yuré looked up at him once more before one of the guards escorted her to his horse and helped her up.
She knew this forest well--much more than the king and his men, so she kept pointing north, leading them in the wrong direction.
The men headed north on a few hour's journey, by the time they realized what had happened it was already too late.
They were forced to camp for the night.

Dedalen watched her then whispered, "I know you're not mute...I also know that you took us directly opposite as to where your home was, which means it was south where you were. Now I have no intention of going there...but I have to know more about you." Their eyes locked and he said, "You truly are...so beautiful."

Yuré looked up at Dedalen for a moment and simply nodded in gratitude before she turned toward the fire that his men had built.
    "Where do you come from?"
Yuré immediately shook her head, signaling to him that she couldn't say.
"Speak, I know you can speak."
Yuré took a deep silent breath and said,
    "I cannot say."

Dadelen said, "Well according to legends among men in that forest somewhere is the entrance to the another world. Of course it is just legend, or is it?" He looked at her and said, "Well that is hardly my issue, I have no intention of hunting a doorway to the realm of the elves. For one thing, we'd be outnumbered, for two, I don't want to be the one to break the peace of the people."

A man said, "Sire, your wife contacted us while you were away a short while ago, apparently she wants to know what to do about the Breelanders."

Dadelen said, "Tell her I will speak to them personally when I arrive." He looked at the elf girl and said, "When I was sixteen, my father arranged a marriage for me. It is a loveless marriage and we are together in name only for the sake of our kingdoms. It is the curse of being a king, I must sacrfice love and being with anyone I could truly love just for the sake of my kingdom."

"You don't love the Queen my King?" One of his men asked. The King turned around and said, "You and the other men did not hear me utter those words tonight."
    "Yes M'lord."

Yuré remained silent once again and Dedalan turned to her once more,
    "What is your name, milady?"
    "Yuré." She replied.

Dedalan said, "It is a beautiful name, course I don't know much about elves, I know I have a kingdom to run but....I want to know more about your people, would you be willing to teach me?" He moved close to her and looked into her eyes. He felt a strong pull towards her and he couldn't let her get away, he couldn't really explain it, nor did he tell her that yet.

The men went away to give them some privacy as some of them had a feeling of what was going to happen between the lovely elf girl and their king.

    Yuré stood up and said,
"You must not tell your people of this meeting, human King."
    "You may call me Dedalan."
Yuré turned to him, "You must forget about this meeting King Dedalan, and I must leave."
    "It's a long walk--"
"I've known these forests since before your were born. I've seen the changes, I know my way."
    "Milady--"
"Don't stop me." She spoke with a warning tone in her voice.

Dedalan looked into her eyes then he took her hand in his and kissed the back of it and whispered, "Very well Yure, but I have one request, let me see you one more time by the waterfall in the forest in a fortnight...I must speak to you more about your people and learn more. Please don't deny me that request, it is important, I cannot explain how or why. Agree to this and I will speak of this to no one, nor will my men."

Yuré replied silent for a moment and then said,
"Very well, I'll meet you in a fortnight, but you must keep your end of the bargain."
"I give you my word as a King."
"Words amount to nothing if your actions don't reflect your promises."
"Are those your words of wisdom--"
"These are my words of warning. Heed whatever promise you make, or your kingdom will fall into chaos."

He looked into her eyes then he locked his eyes on hers and said, "I would never betray someone else, it is not in my nature." He took her hand and said, "Before you rush off though...I'd like to share with you some fresh fruit." He opened his satchel and handed her a really tasty looking apple. He said, "Grown right in my orchard in the shire, please try it, I don't want to send you away with nothing to eat, that would not be hospitable of me. I actually am tempted to go back with you for a while at least until we reach where we met before."

Yuré then took the apple and then said,
"Thank you for your hospitality, but I have to go alone." Yuré replied before she turned toward the trees, lifted her skirt and ran as fast as she could.

The doors to the elf palace opened and the guards announced the princess's return.
"You've come late." The Elf king noted.
"Forgive me my King." Yuré replied as she curtsied in her brother's presence, "I wandered further out than planned."
    "Did anyone see you?"
"No. I promise you, I stayed out of sight." She replied.
The elf king paused for a moment and nodded approvingly, "You may leave now Yuré."
Yuré bowed her head and walked out of the throne room.

Hours passed and the king returned back to the castle at the crack of dawn. Tired and aching, the king entered his chambers only to find his queen there.
"Welcome back your majesty." She greeted.

She smiled and moved close to him and kissed him, "I've missed you my handsome king. How have you been? I have missed you so much." She smiled and went behind him and began to massage his back and whispered, "You have been worried today, I can feel it in your muscles."

An elf maiden asked, "Miss Yure? Are you alright? You seem a little distracted mi'lady. Also where are your coral bracelet? You never leave it anywhere, but it isn't on you." (fell off when the arrow vibrated, catching her cloak)

"I-I must've dropped them back in the upper world." She replied. Her maid turned to her and said, "Would you like someone to go and retrieve it--"
"No, I'll get them myself within the fortnight." Yuré replied. The elf maid nodded and said as she brushed the princess' hair,
    "Very well my lady."

"What troubles you, my King?" The Dedalan's queen asked as she turned to look at her husband as he sat on his chair, deep in thought.

He looked up at the moon through the beams and asked, "You know when our fathers got us to wed? Weren't you as against it as I was? Don't get me wrong, being with you is great and all, I mean we are like best friends and even have our little heir, and probably more to come, but I can't help feeling something is missing. I know I probably sound crazy, but we never once thought of each other in a loving light."

An elf maid asked, "Would you like your customary bathing mi'lady?"

The elf prince was skipping stones on the underground lake's surface and thought, "Just what I need, a little female around who won't play with the dirt or bugs or anything like that. I mean really, why did mother have to have a girl?"
